Trypillian, a British-Ukrainian firm, has secured a $5-million investment for the development of Trypillian SSG, a long-range autonomous strike drone.

The initiative was announced by Mykhailo Fedorov, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Digital Transformation of Ukraine.

Trypillian SSG can operate independently of satellite navigation and is designed to penetrate and degrade enemy air defenses.

Moreover, the defense startup, founded last year by veterans and military experts, has recently joined the Diia City initiative.

The Ukrainian government-backed digital business ecosystem provides favorable tax policies and simplified financial reporting.

Membership allows Trypillian to use legal agreements to safeguard confidential information and restrict key staff from joining competitors, securing its technology and long-term strategy.

“We welcome Trypillian to Diia City and continue to expand the space to provide the best possible conditions for the development of defense technologies,” Fedorov stated.

Boosting Startup Development

Kyiv is stepping up efforts to adopt innovative defense solutions through international collaboration, linking Ukrainian startups with global partners to strengthen the country’s capabilities in its fight against Russia.

In July, Ukraine’s Ministry of Defence, in partnership with the German defense agency, launched a program to support AI startups

The initiative brings together developers, military experts, and mentors to develop technologies that directly address critical challenges and operational needs for the armed forces.

Last year, a group of Ukrainian and American companies, along with technology specialists, launched the Military Innovation Technology Solutions Program.

Providing $200,000 in funding and expertise from American University Kyiv, the project aims to support small tech companies and strengthen Ukraine’s defense capacity.
