The US Defense Innovation Unit has included the Stalker uncrewed aerial system (UAS) developed by Redwire subsidiary Edge Autonomy on its Blue UAS list.

The Stalker UAS was granted Authority to Operate after it met the agency’s cybersecurity, NDAA-compliance, and operational requirements. Its inclusion on the list signals its approval for adoption across government agencies.

“The Blue List selection is an important recognition that streamlines Redwire’s ability to deliver combat-proven, commercially developed UAS technology at scale to meet the Department of Defense’s evolving mission needs,” said Redwire Chairman and CEO Peter Cannito.

Meanwhile, Edge Autonomy President Steve Adlich pointed out how the milestone “creates opportunities for larger and more complex Group 2 UAS and highlights the trust that the US Government has in our technology.”

The VXE30 Stalker UAS is a field-proven Group 2 drone that features a Modular Open Systems Approach, enabling integration with third-party sensors and technologies to meet evolving threats.

Designed for advanced intelligence, surveillance, and reconnaissance operations, it has a maximum takeoff weight of 22 kilograms (49 pounds) and a top speed exceeding 50 knots (93 kilometers/57 miles per hour).

It can operate at an altitude of 4,572 meters (15,000 feet) with an endurance of around eight hours.
